The world is a crazy place, not because we are out of our minds, but because we are out of our bodies. We are out of touch with one another and ourselves. Massage is a relaxing, therapeutic way to tap into the body's built in healing system. I love to teach people how to be their healthiest selves.
Learning about the structure and workings of the human body and healing through massage has been my primary interest for more than 40 years. I took my first 250 hour massage certification course in the summer of 1974 at Massage School of California.
In 1978 I become a licensed psychiatric technician. I enjoyed working with the mentally ill and developmentally disabled for 22 years at Sonoma Developmental Center and Napa State Hospital.
For many years I have educated myself in Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology at Napa Valley College and Solano Community Colleges. I have studied herbs, nutrition and natural healing methods such as Deep Tissue Massage; Massage for the Childbearing Year; and Touch Communication (aka: Infant Massage); Strain Counter strain; and Chi Nei Tsang.
In 2000, I retired from Napa State Hospital to fulfill a dream of creating a center for healing and wellness.
As of October 25, 2009 I am doula or professional birth companion. A doula is a comfort specialist for women during labor and delivery. A professional labor companion is a non-medical person who uses her knowledge and experience of birth to guide a birthing mother and her partner or family toward a fulfilling and pleasant birthing experience. I am also trained as a childbirth educator.
